Two senior hockey players from Forest Hills and one from Ferndale are joining forces to hold a Toys for Tots drive to help support the Johnstown Marines and local community.
The students have collection sites at multiple places and businesses in the Johnstown area.
The main event will be a hockey challenge between the two schools at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Planet Ice in Richland Township.
Admission to the game is free with a toy donation.
Speaker to talk of effects of war on Afghans
NAMI Cambria County will present “Civilians in the Crossfire – Mental Health Casualties in a War-Torn Country” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Grand Ballroom of the downtown Holiday Inn, 250 Market St.
Local resident Kathy Griffith will talk about her work as a nurse-midwife among Afghans traumatized by the effects of war and oppression.
The evening will include the presentation and discussion along with refreshments.
The event is being presented through a grant from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and is free and open to the public.
