JOHNSTOWN — High School Boys

Bishop Guilfoyle Tournament

Fairview 52, Bishop McCort 47: In Altoona, Fairview’s Andy Niland scored a game-high 14 points in the victory against Bishop McCort.

The Crimson Crushers’ Nate Neiderhiser led the team with 11 points.  

Bishop Guilfoyle 72, United 52: In Altoona, Bishop Guilfoyle’s Jamey Brumbaugh scored a game-high 22 points to help beat United and go to the championship game. 

The Lions’ Mike Gill Led the team with 17 points in the loss.

County Seat Tournament

Bishop Carroll 77, Penns Manor 23: In Ebensburg, Brandon Martinazzi scored a game-high 16 points and David Maruca earned 13 points to help the undefeated Huskies’ thwart the Comets at Bishop Carroll High School.

Ligonier Valley Tournament

Greater Johnstown 54, Ligonier Valley 46: In Ligonier, Ryan Price’s 18 points paved the way for the Trojans as they pinned a loss on the host Rams.

Greater Johnstown also received 14 points from Jeremy Updyke and 12 more from Shaquan Reid.

Ligonier Valley’s Jordan Jones netted 12 points.

Punxsutawney Tournament

Somerset 70, Marion Center 51: In Punxsutawney, Somerset’s Dylan Barnes scored 15 points to help beat Marion Center in the Carl Truance Memorial Tournament.

The Golden Eagles’ Connor Zarefoss returned from an injury and had 13 points.

Michael VanLenten and Jake Heiple both tallied 12 points in the win.

The Stingers’ Todd Fetsko scored a game-high 17 points. 

High School Girls

Berlin Brothersvalley Tournament

St. Maria Goretti 50, Chestnut Ridge 26: In Berlin, St. Maria Goretti’s Sydney Clayton scored a game-high 13 points to beat Chestnut Ridge in the Berlin Holiday Shootout.

Berlin  Brothersvalley 76, Northern Garrett 26: In Berlin, Aleesa Fieg scored a game-high 22 points to help Berlin Brothersvalley win.

The Mountaineers’ Shelby Coughenour added 15 points in the win. 

Bishop Guilfoyle Tournament

Bishop Guilfoyle 58, United 26: In Altoona, Bishop Guilfoyle’s Jenna Irvin tallied 13 points to help beat United and remain unbeaten. United’s Eden Bloom earned a double double (20 points, 10 rebounds) and reached a milestone by scoring her 1,000th career point. 

Central Tournament

Bishop Carroll 45, Tyrone 43: In Martinsburg, Bishop Carroll’s Brittany Krug scored 15 points to help the Huskies edge past Tyrone in the Central Tournament. Tyrone’s Jordan Swogger scored 15 points in the loss. 

Central Cambria 53, Central 46: In Martinsburg, Bri Wasser tallied 19 points and Jordan Hayward added 10 more for the Red Devils.

Central’s Ashley Smith scored 16 while teammate Mikaela McGraw pitched in 13.

Hampshire Tournament

University 54, Westmont Hilltop 43: In Romney W.Va., Westmont Hilltop lost its first game of the season as University’s Mariah Callen scored 13 points in the Hampshire Tournament. The Hilltoppers’ Bridget Moyer scored a game-high 15 points. 

Ligonier Valley Tournament

Ligonier Valley 52, Greater Johnstown 40: In Ligonier, Madison McLauglin scored 13 points while Amanda Ross and Taylor Rudnik tossed in 10 each to lead Ligonier Valley to a berth in the championship game of the Ligonier Valley tournament. The Rams will meet Portage tonight.

Tashayla Smith had 15 points and Lexi Lindrose 11 to pace Greater Johnstown, which will play Greater Latrobe for the consolation title.

 Portage 50, Greater Latrobe 15: In Ligonier, Paisley Zatek notched 14 points while Olivia McCabe registered 12 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks in the Mustangs’ blowout win over the Wildcats.

Emily Chobany had five steals for Portage, which limited Greater Latrobe to four points in the second half. 

Penns Manor Tournament

Windber 66, Propel-Andrew Street 11: In Clymer, Windber’s Sam Pcola scored 13 points and Lauren Vasas put up 12 points in a victory against Propel-Andrew Street.
