Tiller and Machado pick up weekly awards
SOMERSET, N.J. – After the St. Francis men’s soccer team opened play in the NEC with a pair of wins, senior Wayne Tiller and freshman Pedro Machado swept this week’s conference soccer awards.
Tiller earned the first NEC Player of the Week selection of his career after he had a hand in both game-winning scores for the Red Flash over the weekend.
Identical to Tiller’s numbers, Machado also recorded a goal and an assist in the two NEC matches Friday and Sunday to be named NEC Rookie of the Week.
The Brazil native notched the first goal of his collegiate career at Bryant, a game winner, and assisted on Tiller’s score against Sacred Heart.
Stoup picks up WVIAC weekly award
PRINCETON, W. Va. – For the second consecutive week, Pitt-Johnstown’s Janna Stoup has been named the WVIAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the league office.
Stoup, a 5-foot-6 sophomore midfielder/forward, guided the Lady Cats to a 3-0 week. In three matches, she registered five goals, three of which were game-winning scores. Stoup posted two goals in the win over Wheeling Jesuit, two in a victory over West Liberty and one in the defeat of Ohio Valley. She notched five scores on just 10 shots on goal.
For the season, Stoup has 13 goals and has helped guide UPJ to an 8-2 overall record, including a 4-1 effort against WVIAC teams.
Mountiers’ Oldham earns AMCC honors
Lauren Oldham, a Bishop Carroll graduate, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week.
Oldham, a 2009 Bishop Carroll graduate, set the standard in multiple statistical categories for the Mount Aloysius College volleyball team last week. She drove the attack with 6.4 assists per set while also averaging 2.1 kills.
Defensively, she contributed eight blocks.
Oldham leads the kills column for the Mounties with 76, while also leading the assists category at 276. She leads in digs, with 168.
