Sammarco earns league honors

PITTSBURGH — For the second time this season, Mount Aloysius’ Lindsy Sammarco earned AMCC Player of the Week for women’s basketball.

 Sammarco averaged 23.7 points per game for the week for the Lady Mounties.

She also averaged

six rebounds and 3.3 assists.

 The junior guard shot 51.9 percent from the floor and 90 percent from the free throw line. She poured in a season-high 29 points in a key Mount Aloysius conference victory over Pitt-Greensburg.

 Sammarco is a 2010 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School and is ranked second in the AMCC for points per game (18.0), sixth in assists per game (3.3), and is tied for fourth in free throw percentage (76.9 percent).
