CHARLESTON, W.Va. —
No. 9 seed Pitt-Johnstown lost to top-seeded West Liberty, 78-66, in the quarterfinals of its final WVIAC Tournament appearance on Thursday at the Charleston Civic Center.
Central Cambria graduate Jordan Miller’s 19 points led the Mountain Cats, as UPJ closed a 15-13 season.
Pitt-Johnstown also played its final game as a member of the WVIAC. UPJ will join the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference next season following seven seasons as a member of the WVIAC.
Miller also had four assists and two steals. Nick Novak had 16 points, six assists and two steals.
The senior guard tandem closed out their careers with Novak scoring 2,023 points, and Miller netting 1,396 points. Novak finished with a UPJ-record 545 assists, and Miller holds the Mountain Cats career
3-point field goal record with 294.
Mountain Cats Andrew Cressler (15 points) and Noah Hartung (10 rebounds) had productive nights.
Bill Luther had eight rebounds and seven points for UPJ, which trailed 37-32 at halftime.
Shawn Dyer’s 21 points led West Liberty. The Hilltoppers will face No. 4 Wheeling Jesuit in today’s semifinals.
No. 2 Fairmont State and No. 3 Alderson-Broaddus are in the other semifinal.
