JOHNSTOWN —

Steelers sign Bills linebacker

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Buffalo Bills linebacker Arthur Moats to a one-year contract.

The 26-year-old Moats spent four seasons in Buffalo and posted career highs last season with 12 starts and 48 tackles.

The Steelers are looking for depth at both inside and outside linebacker after cutting Larry Foote and LaMarr Woodley earlier this month. General Manager Kevin Colbert said during NFL owners meetings in Florida on Sunday that the team isn’t ruling out the chance at bringing back James Harrison, who spent a decade with the club before being released last spring.

Harrison spent 2013 with the Cincinnati Bengals, but is now looking for work after he was cut.

Steelers getting three selections

The Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets each will receive four compensatory picks in this year’s draft for free agents they lost in 2013.

Baltimore gets spots in the third, fourth and fifth rounds, with two choices in Round 4. Those slots are 99th, 134th, 138th and 175th.

The Jets will get slots 139, 209, 210 and 213: A fourth-rounder and three sixth-rounders.

Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and St. Louis each received three compensatory picks. Cincinnati, Green Bay and Detroit got two apiece, while New England, San Francisco and the New York Giants were give one each.

In all, 32 choices were awarded for the draft, which begins May 8.

Pittsburgh, which lost Mike Wallace, Keenan Lewis, Ryan Mundy and Rashard Mendenhall in free agency last year, gets the highest pick, 97th overall, 33rd in the third round. Green Bay goes directly after the Steelers. Then, Baltimore and San Francisco finish off the third round.

Siena bounces PSU from CBI

Evan Hymes raced the length of the floor and scored high off the glass with 3.2 seconds left to lift Siena over Penn State 54-52 in front of an energized crowd in the CBI quarterfinals.

Hymes’ coast-to-coast score came after Brandon Taylor grabbed a rebound and finished for Penn State (16-18) to tie the game with 9.3 seconds left. Hymes, in the game because starting point guard Marquis Wright was injured earlier in the half, raced into the front court and cut hard right, drawing contact as he scored the game-winner.

Penn State led 46-45 after a

3-pointer by Taylor with 4:16 to play, but Lavon Long scored off glass on Siena's (17-17) next trip with 3:41 to play and the Saints never trailed again.
