JOHNSTOWN — High School Boys

Northern Cambria 80 Purchase Line 54

NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Jeff Hogan had a triple-double, and Adam Polites had 30 points, including six 3-pointers, as Northern Cambria beat visiting Purchase Line.

Hogan had 13 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the 14-4 Colts. Josh Bonatesta added 16 points.

Conemaugh Valley 57 Windber 50

Nick Roberts scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Conemaugh Valley defeated visiting Windber.

Grant Cruse added 10 points for the Blue Jays.

Bryce Spak had 16 points and Tyler Zabrucky scored 12 points for the Ramblers.

Grace Prep 55 Cambria County 48

STATE COLLEGE – Grace Prep overcame an 11-9 setback after one quarter and went on to hand Cambria County Christian a road loss.

John Leri topped Grace Prep with 14 points while Jake Stormer added 11 and Peter Tippman had 10.

Cambria County’s Jon Perry led all scorers with 28 points while teammate John Major chipped in 12.

Conemaugh Twp. 65 Portage 23

DAVIDSVILLE – Conemaugh Township used a 17-0 scoring advantage to compile a 30-8 first-quarter lead en route to victory.

Jeff Fisher had 14 points and Jeremy Sotosky scored 12 in leading Conemaugh Township.

Penn Cambria 59 Johnstown 49

A.J. Leahey scored a game-high 22 points to lead visiting Penn Cambria to a non-section win at Greater Johnstown.

Devin Lawhead added 13 points for the Panthers.

Roshon Fields and Phillip Madison both scored in double figures for the Trojans with 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Cambria Heights 62 Westmont 47

Isaac Vescovi scored 16 points to lead four Cambria Heights players who reached double figures at Westmont.

Brad Hoppel had 14 points, Dom Milanesi 13 and Nathan Bearer 11 for the Highlanders.

Mike Vliet and Conor Mendelson led the Hilltoppers with 21 and 17 points, respectively.

Conemaugh Twp. 46

BERLIN – Shelby Coughenour led all scorers with 20 points as Berlin downed visiting Conemaugh Township in a WestPAC non-section game.

Kayla Luprek topped the Indians with 15 points and Lyndy Baer added 11.

Bishop McCort 66 Somerset 25

SOMERSET – Stephanie Hrbal scored 14 points and Mackenzie Barbin added 11 as Bishop McCort picked up a road win at Somerset.

The Golden Eagles got 12 points from Sydney Geary.

Central Cambria 64 Bedford 23

EBENSBURG – Katie Bracken had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds as host Central Cambria belted Bedford.

Bri Wasser added 13 points and seven assists for the Red Devils, who also got 10 points from Taylor King-Brothers.

There were no Bisons who scored in double figures.

Shade 34

CAIRNBROOK – Olivia McCabe scored a game-high 21 points, pulled down 19 rebounds and added five assists and four blocked shots as Portage defeated host Shade in a non-section contest.

Emily Chobany supplied 17 points and seven rebounds for the Mustangs (18-2), who also got seven rebounds from Emily McCabe.

Emma Spinelli had 13 points for the Panthers.

Blacklick Valley 77 Johnstown Christian 37

HOLLSOPPLE – Heather Marsh scored 15 points and grabbed 20 rebounds as visiting Blacklick Valley beat Johnstown Christian.

Brooke Rhoades had 15 points, Breanna Rege had 14 points, and Allison Thomas had 12 for the Vikings. Samantha Haynes led Johnstown Christian with 15 points.

Cambria Heights 47, DuBois Catholic 33

PATTON – Jamie Snedden and Kara Cordell each scored 13 points to lead Cambria Heights to a home win over DuBois Central Catholic.

Snedden also had 10 rebounds.

Maria French topped the visitors with 12 points.

Cambria County 39 Grace Prep 21

STATE COLLEGE – Natalie Sokira scored a game-high 16 points and Alexis Wolfe added 15 as Cambria County Christian picked up a road win against Grace Prep.

Emma Sullivan paced Grace Prep with 11 points.

Cambria Country Christian led 14-6 after one quarter and was ahead 21-6 at the half.

Conemaugh Valley 44 Meyersdale 36

MEYERSDALE – Emily McCray scored 11 points and Liz Stiffler added 10 as visiting Conemaugh Valley defeated Meyersdale.

Meyersdale’s Kyley Dunmeyer had 15 points, scoring five


Bishop Carroll 65 Northern Cambria 20

EBENSBURG – Devyn Bex netted 18 points and Brooke Mento had 10 points and 11 rebounds as Bishop Carroll beat visiting Northern Cambria.

Alli Farabaugh had 11 steals and Haley Krug had eight assists for the Huskies.



Forward joins the Tomahawks

The Johnstown Tomahawks announced Tuesday that the NAHL team acquired forward Matt Williams from the Coulee Region Chill.

The Rochester Hills, Mich. native will wear No. 11 for the Tomahawks.

In 41 games with Coulee this season, Williams had 10 assists and 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists, 18 points).


UPJ plays host to Seton Hill

The fifth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers will close out their dual-meet season with three straight home matches, beginning at 7 p.m. tonight with a match against Seton Hill.

The Mountain Cats bring a 12-2 record. Seton Hill, under first-year coach Brian Tucker, is ranked 11th in Super Region I with a 7-11 dual-meet record.
