Eight local wrestlers advance in state tournament

HERSHEY — Eight local wrestlers won first-round matches at the PIAA Class Wrestling Championships this morning, including three from Chestnut Ridge.

The Lions Tyler Dibert (170 pounds), Dan Albright (195) and Austin Buttry (285) advanced to tomorrow’s quarterfinal round with victories. Ligonier Valley brothers Justin (113) and Josh Patrick (120), Bedford’s Ryan Easter (120), Richland’s Nick Naglic (138) and Forest Hills’ Cody Law (160) also posted first-round victories.

Thirteen other local wrestlers lost a first-round bout and will wrestle again this afternoon. Meyersdale’s Gavin Berkley lost in the first round but will receive a forfeit this afternoon after Bethlehem Catholic’s Jose Ortiz did not make weight this morning.
