Dorothy V. Johnson

JOHNSTOWN — JOHNSON – Dorothy V., 98, Johnstown, died Dec. 19, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Oct. 29, 1915, in Scalp Level, Somerset County, daughter of Philip C. and Lizzie Ann (Naugle) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Danvir W. Johnson, who died April 2, 1997; brothers, Orlando, Kenneth, Herbert and infant brother, Simon; and sisters, Florence Lehman, Olive Seese, Ruth Myers and Bernice Neff. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by son, Dennis, Johnstown; daughter, Sandra J., wife of Patrick Morris, Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Matthew (Yasmine) Johnson, Sherry Johnson and Barbara Morris-Williams; and seven great-grandchildren. Dorothy worked for BestForm in Windber and also Teldyne Turner Tube Co. in New Jersey. Member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and making quilts. She made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jason McQueen. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
