Francis R. Demko

INDIANA, PA. — DEMKO – Francis R., 86, formerly of Johnstown, passed away at Beacon Ridge Manor, Indiana, Pa., Nov. 21, 2013.  Born Nov. 20, 1927, son of Andrew and Julia (Straka) Demko. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife of 56 years, Jean (Maier) Demko; brothers, Albert and Andrew Demko; and  sisters, Margaret Laco and Helen Stanko. Devoted father of Malinda K. Brown, wife of James A. Brown, Indiana, Pa., and Brian R. Demko, husband of Marian Hall, Baltimore, Md.  Patient grandfather of Marykatheryne Kuhne, Mackheinzie Kuhne and Brady Hall.  A brother of Josephine Sikirica. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and special niece, Regina Demko. A  pensioner of Bethlehem Steel with 33 years’ service as a friendly, hard-working welder.  Life member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, member of the Holy Name Society and volunteer at the annual church bazaar and turkey raffles.  Served as a radio operator for the U.S. Air Force as staff sergeant in World War II from June 1946 to July 1949.  Frank was a competitive duck pin bowler at Zips Lanes for the McDonald’s team and would beat anyone in Trivial Pursuit.  His gentleness and kindness toward all will be greatly missed. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resurrection Parish, the Very Rev. Alan Thomas. Committal, Grandview Mausoleum.  Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Francis G.
