PITTSBURGH — ALEX – Gregory, 58, Pittsburgh and Kigali, Rwanda, Africa, formerly of Ebensburg, died May 22, 2013, in Pittsburgh. Born June 6, 1954, in Indiana, Pa., son of Stephen and Leona (Rudolph) Alex. Preceded in death by father. Survived by mother, Leona Alex, Ebensburg; wife, Marie Grace; children, Theresa and Thomas, all of Pittsburgh. Brother of Stephanie Abbonizio, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Barbara, Ebensburg; Michele Young (Karl), Church Creek, Md.; Carolyn Nydick (Roger), Hollywood, Fla.; Mark (Rose), Ebensburg; and William (Lucy), Tionesta. Also survived by a multitude of friends and colleagues. He was employed at the United Nations. As our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and colleague, we all grieve our loss. Beyond a doubt, Greg was a great father and husband, a kind, gently, humble, genuine, honest human being. With more Greg Alexes, this world would be a better place. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Sunday. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Monsignor Arnold L. Gaus. Committal, St. John the Baptist Cemetery, New Baltimore, Pa.
