BOWLING GREEN, KY. — WEIR – Mary L. (Reese), 100, Bowling Green, Ky., formerly of Johnstown, died Dec. 25, 2013, in Bowling Green.  She was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Johnstown, daughter of the late David B. and Anna (Tice) Reese. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Weir; son, David L. Weir Sr.;  brother, H.E. Reese, and his wife, Blodwyn;  halfbrother, Emmitt Fritz; and niece, Anna Mae Reese Daubert. She is survived by daughter, Mary Lee Page (William D.); daughter-in-law and mother of the grandchildren, Mary Joan Weir, New Castle; grandchildren, Karen Weir-Debardeleban (Andre), Edinburg; David L. Weir, New Castle; John Paul Weir (Frank Theiss), Pottstown; and Mary Weir Lipton (Andrew), Richland, Wash.; two great-grandchildren, Anna and Nathan Lipton; halfbrother, Earl Fritz (Jean), Davidsville; daughter-in-law, Gladys Weir, Conroe, Texas; and many relatives in Wales.  Mary was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she taught Bible classes for 60 years, and was a volunteer at the Lutheran Home for 50 years. She was active  with JAHA, Community Arts Center, Southmont Volunteer Fire Company Auxillary and Knights Templar 61. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.  Friends will be received  from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., the Rev.  Gregory Van Dyke, officiant. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to First Lutheran Church Preservation Fund.  (
