WINDBER — YOURICH – Michael P. “Mike,” 68, Windber, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Dec. 29, 2013. Born Dec. 8, 1945, in Windber, son of Andrew J. Jr. and Caroline J. (Winas) Yourich. Preceded in death by parents; and in-laws, Helen and Grant Rose; as well as his nephew, Joseph Yourich, who was like a brother to him. Survived by wife, Kathy (Rose) Yourich; son, Michael P. Yourich Jr., and wife, Denise (Drenning), Johnstown; daughter, Melissa L. Yourich, and wife, Tracy A. Salka, Hagerstown, Md.; also granddaughter, Chrystal M. Yourich. Brother of Helen Yourich, Windber; Dorothy, wife of Daniel Cronin, Glenn Dale, Md.; Andrew Yourich, St. Michael; and Theresa, wife of Louis Kiss, Windber. Also survived by sister-in-law, Sylvia, wife of Gary Keilman; brothers-in-law, Timothy Rose, and wife, Annette; Gerald Rose; and Joseph J. Ola; and numerous nieces and nephews. Former member of the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked as a welder at U.S. Steel, Johnstown, for 16 years; Sheesly Construction; and Thiele Truck Bodies. Active member of Windber Sportsmen’s Club. Michael was an avid gardener and fisherman who loved Lake Erie steelhead fishing. Mike was well-known for his ability to fix just about anything. He helped many friends, family and strangers. He rarely accepted payment for his work. He loved his wife, Kathy, of 47 years and his family deeply. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Martin Cingle. Interment, St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to help with family expenses would be appreciated.
