Wallace C. Gouse

PORTAGE — GOUSE – Wallace C. “Wally,” 81, Portage, passed away March 19, 2013, at home. Born July 22, 1931, in Portage, son of  Charles and Mary (Smerk) Gouse. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Patricia Ann (Shura) Gouse; and sister, Dolores Gouse. Survived by sons, Gary Gouse, married to the former Colette Corrente; Randy Gouse, married to the former Brenda Hershberger; and Russell Gouse, married to the former Jessica Frantz, all of Portage. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Meghan, wife of  Joshua Brown; Gabrielle Gouse, and fiance, Jared Bilchak; and Samantha, Charles, Cody, Gavin, Owen and Eli Gouse; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Elizabeth Brown and Courtney Gressick. Brother of Donald Gouse, married to the former Mary Mandichak, Portage. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a retired welder from Leman Machine Co. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, bird dog trainer, basketball player and former St. Joseph’s grade-school basketball coach. He also enjoyed taxidermy, Portage Mustang football, working track meets, and  throwing darts. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Hammers Street, Father Andrew Draper, TOR, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Portage. Military funeral rites by Portage Ritual Team.
