RICHLAND — WHERRY – Ethelyn M. “Ev” (Smith), 67, Richland, formerly of Seward and Westmont, lost her battle with liver cancer May 14, 2012, at UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh. Born Aug. 26, 1946, in Johnstown, daughter of the late John and Naomi (Gray) Smith. Survived by husband of almost 42 years, James W. “Many Feathers”; children, Frank Wherry, Windber; Regina, married to Keith Brotemarkle, Richland; Chris, married to Eugene Kinley, Richland; and Tanya, married to Shawn Blank, Hollsopple; grandchildren, Miranda, Stephanie, Andrew, Christopher, Jerome, Jennifer, Kaitlin, Nicole, Jasmine, Jessica and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Hannah, Aurora and Alexa; and daughters-in-law, Jerri Toomey, Windber; and Maria Phillips, Hurlock, Md. A graduate of Cambria-Rowe Business College. Retired employee of Walmart, with 25 years of service. She was a longtime volunteer for Lee Hospital and for their diabetes association, where she was secretary-treasurer. She was one of the founding members of Parents Without Partners. Ethelyn enjoyed attending art class at Conemaugh Health System Arts for Healing Program, creating family photo albums, gardening, craft shows and shopping for antiques. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. A private interment will be held at a later date at Fairfield Cemetery, New Florence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethelyn’s memory may be sent to American Cancer Society, 1004 N.
