Eleanor Anne Sipko

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP — SIPKO – Eleanor Anne “Ellie,” 88, Richland Township, passed away Aug. 15, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Dec. 13, 1924, in Johnstown, daughter of George W. and Ida E. (Rovan) Reed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John D. Sipko; and sister, Mary Jane Kralik. Survived by her loving children, Carol A., wife of James Frank, Sun City Center, Fla.; Ronald J., and his partner, Genevieve Kluchar, both of Johnstown; and Patricia L. Price, Johnstown; grandchildren, Anita, Robert, Christina, Jeffrey, Douglas, Kristyn, Kelly, Daniel, Mark and Ryan; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother, James G. Reed, Westminster, Calif.; and sister, Patricia Teeter, Benscreek. Godmother of Nancy Taresco, Rosie Thomas and Gloria Heminger. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Eleanor attended Conemaugh Township High School. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and Legion of Mary. Eleanor also attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister. Also a member of Coast Guard auxiliary; Ladies Columbian Circle; charter member of East Hills Democratic Women’s Club; Red Hat Ladies; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Christian Women’s Club; and East Hills Regional Democratic Club; and was elected Mrs. Democrat of 2008. Former member of Belmont Fire Co. ladies auxiliary. Eleanor led the rosary at Harmony House for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crossword puzzles. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Father David S. Peles, pastor. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904, in memory of Eleanor.
