Charles R. Gardner

DOVER, DEL. — GARDNER – Charles R., 88,  Dover, Del., formerly of Johnstown, passed away June 29, 2013, at his home. Born July 7, 1924, in Johnstown, son of the late Reuben and Linnie (Frank) Gardner. Preceded in death by wife, Pauline T. (Turjanica) and infant daughter, Mary. Survived by son, David Jay, and wife, Kerry Kane, Dover. Member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and VFW Post 155. U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II in the Pacific as a medic. He was awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. He retired from Bethlehem Steel and Moxham Lumber Co. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
