Marilyn R. Thompson

HOLLIDAYSBURG — THOMPSON – Marilyn R., 78, Hollidaysburg, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Altoona Regional Hospital. Born in Johnstown on Dec. 4, 1934, daughter of the late Christian and Julia (Christ) Schaller. She married Harry B. Thompson on Nov. 26, 1955, in Johnstown. Surviving are her husband; children, David J. Thompson, and wife, Rose, Harrisburg, and the Rev. Debra D. Thompson, Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren, Julia and Jack Thompson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Seivers. Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker, but worked in the early years of her life as  flight attendant for the former All American Airlines and at Bedford Springs Hotel during the summer of 1952. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg, where she was a member of the Ruth Circle, chancel choir and altar guild. She also was a member of Blair Garden Club, Sylvan Hills Ladies Golf Association and Jobel Court No. 11. She was a 1952 graduate of Richland High School. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Greg Harbaugh and the Rev. Kyle Hayes, officiating. Interment, Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to Zion Lutheran Church, 500 Allegheny St., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Riverwalk Corporate Center, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gilden Barton Funeral Home, 1401 Ninth Ave., Altoona.
