JOHNSTOWN — GEIST – Robert Allen, 57, Johnstown, died unexpectedly March 31, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 26, 1956, in Johnstown, son of the late Allen and Rita (Kinsey) Geist. Preceded in death by sister, Linda Gallo. Survived by wife of 36 years, Darlene R. (Gay) Geist; daughters, Jennifer, married to Brad Hindman; and Meagan McFarland, all of Johnstown; grandchildren, Ava, Sawyer and Carter Hindman; and Wyatt McFarland; brother, David Geist, and wife, Rita, Johnstown; brother-in-law, Gary Gallo, Johnstown; sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Robert McWhirter, Alexandria, Va.; and faithful furry companions, Gordon and Tucker. Rob was an education supervisor at the Hiram G. Andrews Center. Member of First Presbyterian Church, Johnstown Reed Band and Johnstown Community Chorus, and past member of the church session. For 40 years, it was tradition that Rob enjoyed Christmas caroling and playing his trombone with friends, Paul, George, John and Louie. He was a lover of everything Disney and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids along with family vacations to the Outer Banks and Pittsburgh Pirates games. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Alice Tondora, officiating. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Cambria County Humane Society or American Heart Association.
