GALLITZIN — FUTEY – William J. “Bill,” 54, Gallitzin, died Nov. 18, 2012, at Altoona Hospital. Born June 8, 1958, in Altoona, son of the late John and Helen (Sekerak) Futey. Survived by sisters and brother, Irene Szynal, Gallitzin; Elaine (Jim) Rice, Harrisburg; and John Futey Jr., Ligonier; and nieces and nephews, Karen (Lee) Houston, Sandia (Jeff) Carruthers, Stephen (Rosalie) Szynal, Jon (Cyndi) Szynal, Lisa (Ed) Rossey, Jim (Mia) Rice and Alan Rice. Bill worked for Family Dollar as a district manger. He was very fond of his great-nieces and -nephews, and especially enjoyed the hours spent babysitting for Lydia, Ty and Meredith. Bill loved cars, especially his Chrysler Crossfire, and enjoyed traveling. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where vigil service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Gallitzin Area Ambulance, Gallitzin Fire Company or Gallitzin Tourist Council in Bill’s memory.
