John J. Kopriva

JOHNSTOWN — KOPRIVA – John J., 90, Johnstown, passed away Sept. 28, 2013, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born Aug. 5, 1923, in Johnstown, son of the late Frank J. and Frances A. (Omer) Kopriva. Preceded in death by wife, Pauline E. (Nozsak) Kinkela Kopriva; two brothers; and three sisters. Survived by numerous family members. John was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member and first lector and Eucharistic minister of St. Anne Catholic Church, charter member of the Knights of Columbus and All Saints Assembly, where he was a navigator. Also member of Moxham Oldtimers, TPA, SNPJ, Slovenian Fraternal Independent Beneficial Society, VFW Post 4795 and American Legion. A U.S. Army veteran, where he served in the Signal Corps and cryptographer. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, Moxham. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, Moxham, Father Bernard Karmanocky. Committal, Grandview Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 155. Memorial contributions may be directed in his memory to Southern Care Hospice, 206 Falcon Lane, Altoona, Pa. 16602 or St. Anne Catholic Church, Moxham.
