Ethel M. Rafferty

JOHNSTOWN — RAFFERTY – Ethel M., 98, Johnstown, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Nov. 5, 1914, in Johnstown, daughter of the late John and Anna (Griffith) Maier. Ethel was the last remaining member of the Maier family. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James J. Rafferty Sr.; sisters, Charlotte, Jean Demko, Evelyn Distefano and Viola Hewton; brothers, John Maier and Edward Maier; and great-grandson, infant Brad Wilson. Survived by sons, Raymond H. Rafferty, married to the former Peggy (Kiniry), Johnstown; and James J. Rafferty Jr., married to the former Janice (Mapstone), Jeannette, Pa. Also survived by grandchildren, Kathleen (Michael) Osinski, Maryland; Mary Beth (Charles) Hanley, Pittsburgh; JoAnn (John) Wilson, Harrisburg; Colleen (Dr. John J.) Brozetti, Johnstown; and Raymond J. Rafferty (wife, Ann Welsh), Dublin Ohio; and Patricia Rafferty, Timothy Rafferty and Bridget (Eric) Himler, all of Jeannette, Pa. Also survived by great-grandchildren, Anna (Chris) Goodman, Peter Osinski, John Osinski, Donald Hanley (Taja), Patrick Hanley, Erin (Adam) Raubenstein, Ryan (Trista) Wilson, Gregory Wilson, Kristen Wilson, Bridget Wilson, Justin Brozetti, Christopher Brozetti, James Rafferty III, Sean Rafferty, Molly Rafferty, Tristen Himler and Clare Himler; and great-great-grandchildren, Owen Hanley, Colin Raubenstein and Sopheria and Landon Wilson. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ethel worked in many sales positions in Johnstown over the years including W.T. Grants and retired from Kline Landers. She was very close to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Member of St. John’s Cathedral, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Ethel’s family sincerely wants to thank everyone at Arbutus Park Manor and Windber Hospice for their splendid and loving care of Ethel.
