Frank Torchia

JOHNSTOWN — TORCHIA – Frank, 94, Johnstown, passed away Dec. 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at home. Born Feb. 18, 1919, in Johnstown, son of Thomas and Maria (Nicharrot) Torchia. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jennie Gallucci and Agnes Reitz; and brothers, Louis “Laffey,” Pat, Charlie, Pete and Paul Torchia. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann (Velich); daughter, Linda Hornick, wife of Richard, North Huntingdon; son, Thomas F. Torchia, married to Sandra (Irwin); and grandchildren, Elizabeth White, wife of Scott; Nicholas Hornick; Major Thomas F. Torchia, married to Allison; Tara Vuckovich, wife of Damian; and Tyler and Tiffany Torchia. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a 1938 graduate of Johnstown High School, where he participated in football and track and held the record for the 100-yard dash for many years. Frank was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Proprietor of the former Raymond’s Club Grill on Franklin Street. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be truly missed and loved by all. Lifelong member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, formerly St. Anthony Church, Woodvale. Friends received from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, Pa. 15905. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Clare of Assisi Church, Father Matthew Misurda. Interment, St. Anthony Cemetery, Geistown. Condolences may be sent through
