Wilma C. (Varlien) Swetz

WINDBER — SWETZ – Wilma C. (Varlien), 86, Windber, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. Born April 1, 1926, in Windber, daughter of Anthony and Cecelia (Cetina) Varlien. Wife of the late Edward J. “Nip” Swetz. Also preceded in death by parents and sisters, Mary Zahorchak and Mildred Varlien. Wilma is survived by daughters, Patty (Swetz), wife of Phil Catanzaro, St. Louis, Mo.; and Debra Swetz, Sydney, Australia; and grandson, Zac Swetz, son of Debra. Relatives include the Zahorchak, Nosal, Lucas, Pongrac and Michael families. Wilma was lifelong friends of sisters, Helen Rehar and Millie Studniary, Windber. A special thanks to friend and caregiver, Lore Haddenham, who provided Wilma with tender loving care during the past six years. Member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. George M. Gulash. Committal, St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held.
