David Francis Tollis Jr.

JOHNSTOWN — TOLLIS –  David Francis Jr., 86, Johnstown, died Nov. 2, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center.  He was born March 20, 1926, in Altoona, son David F. and Olive (McMullen) Tollis. Preceded in death by parents;  son, Joseph; brother, Ronald; and sister, Arvilla Smeltzer.  He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Ruth (Horner) Tollis; children, William Tollis, and wife, Barbara, Dilltown; Lonnie Peterson, and wife, Jennifer, Memphis, Tenn.; and Pamela Stefanka, and husband, William, Osterburg; and grandchildren, William Tollis Jr.; April Girolami, and husband, Tim; Michael Tollis; Eric Tollis; Amy Keiser; Lori Keiser; and Frank Peterson.  He also is survived by brother, Frank, and wife, Shirley, Chicago; sisters, Audrey Wilson, and husband, Hugh, Fayetteville, Ark., and Donna Taraschi; and daughter-in-law, Janine Tollis. Dave was a World War II Navy veteran, and was employed as a machine operator with the Conemaugh & Black Lick Railroad, until retiring in 1981.  He was a member and elder of First Christian Church and a life member of VFW 155 and DAV Post 2. Some of the things Dave enjoyed were plastering houses, building furniture and doing wood carvings.  Friends will be received from 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of service at 2 p.m. at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., the Rev. James Devorick, officiating.  Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.  Condolences may be sent to
