JOHNSTOWN — SMITH – John W. Sr., 55, Johnstown, died June 5, 2011. Born March 31, 1956, in Johnstown, son of the late Henry F. Sr. Smith and Florence L. (Seeley) Rose. Preceded in death by brother, Ted; sisters, Helen and Margie; daughter, Tammy; and grandson Trent. Survived by wife, the former Carol Burkhart; son, John W. Jr.; stepson, Joshua Burkett; daughter, Tawnya, and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Tre, Taejha, Tyler, Rey and Daelon; and great-granddaughter, Janaelyeah. Also survived by sisters, Lucy, and husband, Richard; and Ruth, and friend, Bob Wurth; brother, Hank, and wife, Thelm; and numerous nieces, nephews and brothers; and sisters-in-law; also many wonderful friends. John was a corrections officer at SCI-Laurel Highlands and a US Army veteran. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
