Jean A. Edwards

JOHNSTOWN — EDWARDS – Jean A. 91, Johnstown, passed away May 6, 2014, at Latrobe Health and Rehab Center. Born Jan. 23, 1923, in Johnstown, daughter of Alonzo and Bess (Howard) Ream. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Marian (Ream) Butler. Survived by devoted husband, Robert; loving children, James, married to Mariann (Likar), Greensburg; and Tracy Lynn Edwards, Monroeville; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Shawnna and Derek Edwards. Jean was a graduate of Westmont High School in 1941. She worked in the payroll department of Bethlehem Steel. Active member of First Lutheran Church. She was a true lover of all animals, large and small. Through her courage and faith in God, she was released from the dreaded grip of darkness and fear of Alzheimer’s. We honor and salute you but most of all we love you. Jean’s wishes were no viewing and a private service for immediate family, the Rev. Dr. Robert Wagner, officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Disease Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh, which is known to be one of the best in the nation. We are truly grateful to Hartland Hospice for their loving care during her final days and the staff at Latrobe Health and Rehab. A mother’s farewell wish for the children – Feed not your loneliness on empty days but till each waking hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort and cheer and I, in turn, will comfort you and hold you near, and never, never be afraid to die for I am waiting for you in the sky. Arrangements by John Henderson Co. Funeral Home.
