Helen Shedlock

BENSCREEK — SHEDLOCK – Helen, 100, Benscreek, passed away July 18, 2013, at Cambria Care Center. Born Jan. 29, 1913, in Benscreek, daughter of John and Mary (Morris) Shedlock. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Joseph, Steve, John (McGraw), Michael and Edward; sisters, Elizabeth Bruck, Mary Sitar and Margaret D. Vandzura; in-laws, Stella (Sitar) Shedlock, Frank Sitar, Anna (Szaflarski) Shedlock, Kathryn (Carpec) Shedlock, Elmer Vandzura, Margaret (Oklamchak) Shedlock, Charles Bruck and Catherine (Kinback) Shedlock. Survived by brothers and sisters, Francis Shedlock, married to the former Dolores Muldoon; and Dorothy, wife of Leonard Scoran, both of Benscreek; and  Albert Shedlock, Scanlon Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. During the war, she worked in the factory making uniforms for the Army and later worked as a housekeeper in New York and New Jersey. Member of St.  Mary’s Church choir and Benscreek Club. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Serenko-Claar  Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Hammers Street, Portage, Father Joseph Janiszeski, TOR, officiating. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Portage.
