ALTOONA — BORING– Robert Vernon “Roytan,” 54, Altoona, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Friday morning, July 26, 2013, at his residence after complications resulting from pneumonia and brain tumors. He was born April 13, 1959, in Johnstown, son of Vernon Leroy “Runt” Boring and Betty Jean (Daugherty) Leidy, who preceded him in death. Surviving is a son, Robert Raymond (Boring) Schneider, and wife, Crystal; grandson, Cody; and granddaughter, Leah “Leroy”; sisters, Patty Postgate, and husband, Ron, Seward; Vonda McConnell, with whom he resided, and husband, Randy, Altoona; Karen Nichols, and husband, Emanuel, Duncansville; Mindy Cobler, and husband, Robert, Hollidaysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his nephew, Ryan Boring; niece, Shannon Postgate; brothers, Ryan, Kevin and Jeff; grandparents, Raymond and Julia Boring and Harold and Emma Leidy. Robert was a 1977 graduate of United High School, Armagh, and was employed as a boilermaker at Local Union 154. Roy enjoyed the simple life and the people who surrounded him, listening to music and watching the History Channel and learning about the Civil War. He enjoyed sitting on the porch with the morning sun at his face listening to the birds, having Mason share his snacks, his visits from Kenz and being called “Uncle Boob.” His life can be summed up in the songs he listened to. As he climbs his “Stairway to Heaven” and becomes a “Freebird” he can say “I did it my way.” A special thank you to his niece, Jessica, for the wonderful care and love she gave to him. Friends will be received from 2 until time of service at 4 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. Interment, Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery, Brush Valley. In Roy’s memory, take the time today to visit or phone a loved one. Online condolences may be left at www.thestuartfuneralhomes.com.
