SOMERSET — DUPPSTADT – Lois Mildred (Miller), 72, Somerset, died March 28, 2012, at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 4, 1939, in Somerset County, daughter of the late Clarence and Rebecca (Augustine) Miller. Preceded in death by brothers, Paul, William, Wayne, James and Stanley; sister, Emma Jean; and son-in-law, Philip R. Walker. Survived by husband of 49 years, Robert Dean Duppstadt; children, Karen Walker, Somerset; Rhonda Duppstadt, Atlanta, Ga.; and Robert Duppstadt Jr., Somerset; and grandchildren, Jack and Sydney Sordelet. Member and very active in Faith Lutheran Church, she served as chairperson of WELCA, received the Bold Woman of the Year award, chairperson of the Social Committee, Altar Guild, Sunday school teacher, church council and delegate to many Lutheran Synod Assemblies. She taught preschool for 17 years, was a 4-H leader of Brotherton Belles & Beaus for 20 years and a team member of Faith Lutheran American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team. As a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 45 years, she was awarded the Edgar Cheeley Volunteer Award, American Association of Blood Banks (Bethesda, Md.) Volunteer Award and the most precious to her, the Clara Barton Award. As a member of Wills Grange, she was awarded the Citizenship Award from Somerset Grange. She was a volunteer for many local and national cycling events at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. She was honored as a volunteer by (Salute to Women) by Penn’s Woods Council of Boy Scouts. She also was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Community Services by WJAC-TV. Friends received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Friends also received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, the Rev. Ardelle Mason, officiating. Interment, Wills Cemetery.
