JOHNSTOWN — POTTER – Jack D., 54, Johnstown, formerly of Richland, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2013, at Windber Hospice. Born Oct. 31, 1958, in Johnstown, son of the late Blaine and Helen (Bloom) Potter. He was formerly married to Janet B. Chulick, who survives. Also survived by son, Jack Stephen Potter, Richland; stepchildren, John Michael Zaramba, Pittsburgh; and Kristy Cordek, Richland; five stepgrandchildren; and special longtime friends, Jeff Wingard and Kim Berkebile, both of Richland; and Ron Brubaker, Altoona. Jack will be deeply missed by all of his family and many friends. He was a licensed funeral director for more than 31 years, having served in the capacities of supervisor and trade embalmer for several funeral homes in the Johnstown, Cambria County and surrounding areas. He was a 1976 graduate of Richland High School; Mount Aloysius College, Cresson, with an associate of science degree in premortuary science; and a 1980 graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Member of Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and Keystone Funeral Directors Association. Life member of Richland Volunteer Fire Department. He was a very talented artist who enjoyed fishing, woodworking and had a great love for animals. Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday at Richland Cemetery Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Father James B. Coveney. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery. Memorials in Jack’s memory to the Humane Society of Cambria County would be most appreciated by the family.
