JOHNSTOWN — KATSOLIS – Nicholas G., 91, Johnstown, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013. Born Sept. 28, 1921, to Gust and Angeline Katsolis. Nick grew up in Johnstown, enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 21. Having been trained as a surgical technician, Nick served his country proudly during World War II. After an honorable discharge, Nick returned to Johnstown and took over the family hat cleaning business which was known as Gus Cleaners. There, Nick and his wife, Stella, made many long lasting friendships with people in the Johnstown community. Nick was a hardworking man, having struggled through the Depression years and the difficult and strenuous tour of duty, applying the strongest of work ethics to all his future endeavors whether pertaining to his business or his family life. Nick was a loving and gentle man committed to caring for his family, later in life becoming the primary caregiver for his wife, Stella, never wavering on his commitment he made to her nearly 65 years ago on their wedding day. Nick will be sadly missed by family, many friends and his dear wife, Stella. Nick is survived by sons, John (Dawn Clark), Ligonier; Constantine, Johnstown; and daughter, Cleo, Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Travis and Tera Katsolis; and nieces and nephews, Lorraine and George Bush; Georgia and Ron Stiffler; and R.J., Alexis, Danny and Nick Stiffler. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum, where military rites will be conducted by Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corps League.
SINCAK – Michael, of Hollsopple, loving son, brother, husband and friend to all, passed away peacefully April 10, 2014, with his beloved wife by his side at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, after fighting a valiant battle with cancer.
