Heidi Patricia Putman-Casdorph

MORGANTOWN, W.VA. — PUTMAN-CASDORPH – Heidi Patricia, 46, Morgantown, W.Va., native of Stoystown, passed away Jan. 20, 2014, following a long-term illness. A loving mother and wife, she was born Oct. 9, 1967, in Somerset, daughter of Glenn and Barbara Putman of Stoystown. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lindsay H. and Mollie Putman; and maternal grandmother, Edna Rininger. In addition to her parents, Heidi is survived by her husband, Van A. Casdorph; and son, Hayden C. Casdorph. A 1986 graduate of North Star High School, Heidi went on to earn undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees at St. Francis College in 1990 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1994. In 1995, she began her teaching career at Allegheny College. She went on to earn a doctorate in nursing from Weidner University in 2002. Heidi dedicated herself to a career in nursing, nursing research and nursing education. Heidi had been working as an associate professor at West Virginia University since 2002. She was a certified asthma educator and was researching asthma in rural populations. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, the Rev. Dennis Zimmerman, officiating. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. (
