FERNDALE — STACKHOUSE – Margaret, formerly Margaret Blaschak, 91, Ferndale, passed away July 13, 2014. Born Nov. 12, 1922, daughter of Nicholas and Alexandria (Pacan) Homyak. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Blaschak; brothers, Andrew, John and Peter Homyak; and sisters, Ann Sempeti and Madeline Sop. Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her son, Jeffrey, and wife, Mary Jo (Hoffer); granddaughter, Elizabeth Blaschak; beloved nephew, Wesley, and wife, Jean (Wesley) Stinich; great-nieces, Christopher and Jenny Stinich; nieces and nephews, Virginia Eisenhuth, Nicholas Sempeti and Sandra and Frank Forosisky; great-niece, Michele Heckart; and great-nephews, John and Robert Forosisky. Margaret was a lifelong member of Christ the Saviour Cathedral, where she was active in many capacities, including the ACRY and the church choir. She was a retired employee of the Westmont Hilltop School District. Family and friends received from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home, West End, where the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak will hold Panachida at 7 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a brief service at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. at Christ the Saviour Cathedral. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. The family wants to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Lutheran Home of Johnstown for their compassionate care of Margaret these past few years. The family encourages contributions in Margaret’s honor to Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries to support the good work ALSM does for the community.
