SALIX — HUNTER – Donald W., 83, Salix, died Nov. 28, 2012, at Windber Hospice. Born Aug. 20, 1929, in Salix, son of  Scott and Viola (Ellenberger) Hunter. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Ada Reynolds; daughters, Patricia Ann, Carolyn J. and Connie Hunter; three brothers; and one sister. Survived by wife, Mary Jane (Ohler) Hunter; daughters, Linda Benning, married to Jim, Salix; and Scotti Slowey, married to Bob, Maryland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Retired U.S. Navy veteran with 20 years of service as boiler repairman. Lifetime member of VFW Menoher Post 155. Member of NRA; Disabled Veterans; American Legion, Dunlo; and Fleet Reserve Association. Friends received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rummel Church of the Brethren, Windber, Pastor Ruby Mader, officiating. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff and volunteers of Windber Hospice and ask that memorial donations be made there at 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, Pa. 15963.
