MASASSAS, VA. — VOLCHANSKY – Michael, 90, formerly of East Conemaugh, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at Emeritus of Manassas. Born July 24, 1923, in Conemaugh, to the late Louis and Mary (Perich) Volchansky. Mr. Volchansky was a World War II Army veteran who served as a medic, having received a Bronze Star. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and earned his master’s from American University. After 27 1/2 years, he retired from the CIA, where he successively held positions of increasing responsibility in the field of information handling and services. Predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Volchansky; parents; and brothers, John, Charles and George Volchansky. Survivors include his sisters, Virginia Ziner (Michael), Helen Guyan (Andy) and Mary Ann Glass; brother, Paul Volchansky (Lois); and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, Va. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, Va.
