MEYERSDALE — NIDER – Michael, 93, Meyersdale, died May 13, 2014, at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born Aug. 19, 1920, in Berlin, son of Vasil and Katrina (Minko) Nider. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wasco, Nicholas and Andrew; and sisters, Mary, Anna, Catherine and Martha. Survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Pauline Shuck; children, Cary Nider, and wife, Dawn, Meyersdale; Denise McDonald, Somerset; Mark Nider, Garrett; and Jeff Nider, and wife, Phyllis, Johnstown; grandchildren, Carly Khanna, and husband, Raj; Casey Nider; Danielle McDonald; Derek McDonald, and wife, Keirsten; Michelle McDonald, and fiance, Zachary Yeaton; Jessica Booher; Julie Nider; Austin Nider; Joshua Nider; Corey Nider; and Lauren, Allison and Nathan Zimmerman; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Jasmine and Jaden. Also survived by sisters, Roseanne Custer, Bel Air, Md.; and Stella Fisher, Fort Myers, Fla. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Local 568 Iron Workers, Cumberland, Md. He enjoyed gardening, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and he was a loving family man. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Glenn P. Foster, officiating.
