WINDBER — BURKEY – Phyllis E., 69, Windber, passed away peacefully Jan. 14, 2014, at Windber Hospice. Born June 11, 1944, in Akron, Ohio, daughter of Ernest and Irene (Claycomb) Westover. Preceded in death by father and husband, Raymond. Survived by mother, Ogletown; and sons, Rand, Sarasota; and Chris, married to the former Christina Trujillo, Windber. Grandmother to Victoria Faith Burkey. Sister of Stanford Westover, married to the former Kathy Muccioli; Ronald Westover, married to the former Sally Weyandt; Bradley Westover, married to the former Cathy Whetstone; Dianne, wife of Sam Lehman; Elaine, wife of Ed Berardi; and Suzanne Westover, all of Ogletown; and Linda, wife of Bernie Schardt, Somerset. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis was an amazing mom, wife and person. She always put others ahead of herself, made time for people and was so helping and truly caring. She was intelligent, funny and witty. She enjoyed life and was very outgoing. She had a natural, generous spirit and her legacy of reaching out to people will never be forgotten. She received her bachelor’s degree at Moriah Institute of Christian Studies, Fayetteville, N.C. She worked on Fort Bragg for the Department of Defense. She made an impact on so many peoples’ lives that cannot be described or measured. She was awesome! We love you and will miss you. We want to thank the Windber Hospice staff for their extraordinary care of Phyllis as she truly passed away peacefully and comfortably. There will be no viewing or visitation but a Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 258 Mount Hope Road, South Fork, Pa. 15956.
