Rita F. Helen-Hoover

LORETTO R.D. — NELEN-HOOVER – Rita F.,  91, Loretto R.D., died Jan. 15, 2014, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born Aug. 23, 1922, in Ashville, daughter of the late Edgar and Theresa (Basal) Seymour. Preceded in death by first husband, Lawrence J. Nelen, on July 8, 1961; second husband, Albert “Bert” Hoover, on Feb. 22, 2009; son, Gerald Nelen; grandson, Randy Adams; son-in-law, Charles Soisson; and brothers and sisters, Gertrude Watt-Burgoon-Williams, Clair, Francis, Edgar Jr., Robert and Catherine Wilt. Survived by children, Genevieve Soisson, Derwood, Md.; Patty Semelsberger (Duke), Patton; Paul Nelen, Ashville; Jim Nelen (Ethel Fix), Loretto; Rosemary Adams, Ebensburg; and Rhonda Criste (Bill), New Stanton; and grandson, Michael Ivory, who resided with Rita. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Velma McElheny, McVeytown; Ethel Luther, Aliquippa; and Vesta Milne (Chris), Glenwillard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita enjoyed family gatherings and playing cards. Member of Chest Springs Sportsmen. Former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where vigil service will be held Friday afternoon. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, the Rev. Joseph Fleming, celebrant. Committal, St. Thomas Cemetery, Ashville.
