Dennis F. Barnes

NEW FLORENCE — BARNES – Dennis F. “Dink,” 67, New Florence, died Jan. 19, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 1, 1946, in Johnstown, son of Nelson and Agnes (Cicon) Barnes. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Sandy Frieben. Survived by sons, Dennis J. Barnes, Johnstown; Raymond A. Barnes, and companion, Joan, Windber; Christian A. Barnes, Johnstown; and six grandchildren; also two great-grandchildren. Brother of Renee, married to Dennis Pritt; and Nanette Casado, both of Johnstown; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dennis was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War as a specialist in Thailand. Retired from the Wire Mill Division of Bethlehem Steel Corp. and was employed with Johnstown Wire Technologies as a millwright. Dennis’ giving and caring was showed throughout his life by his many charitable contributions. Some of those include the American Disabled Veterans, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, the Very Rev. Monsignor Raymond Balta. Committal Grandview Cemetery.
