WESTLAKE, LA. — CAIN – Carolyn Jean, 72, Westlake, La., passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at a local health care facility. Carolyn was a native of Pennsylvania. She lived and traveled throughout the world with her husband, Bob, throughout his career in the Air Force before settling in Lake Charles, La. Carolyn began her career at Bolton Ford as a bookkeeper and was promoted over the years, retiring 32 years later as comptroller. Carolyn’s love to help and be around people led her to volunteer at Heart of Hospice, where she found great fulfillment and made many friends. Always a gracious hostess, she enjoyed entertaining in her house with groups of her wonderful friends. Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Carolyn was a faithful member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Stella Studniarz. Survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Cain; son, Tod Cain (Nancy), Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughter, Kelly Goodman (Aaron), Lake Charles, La.; grandsons, Brandon Benoit and Ben Cain; granddaughters, Jenifer and Jillian Joubert; sister, Elsie Volk (Leonard), Windber; brother, Stanley Studinary, Pittsburgh; as well as a many friends who were considered extended family. A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, the Rev. James Lueckenhoff and the Rev. Dr. Mitzi George, officiating. Inurnment will follow service at the church columbarium.
