Richard Orin Kimmel

FREDERICKSBURG, VA. — KIMMEL – Richard Orin, 80, Fredericksburg, Va., passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014. Mr. Kimmel was born in Downey, Pa., son of the late Glenn Orin Kimmel and Ida Catherine Felton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Jane Cable; sister, Karen Kay Militzer; granddaughter, Sara Jane Kimmel; and great-grandson, George Emerson Day. Richard graduated from Shanksville High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and worked at U.S. Steel for more than 25 years. He was an avid fly fisherman who loved to camp, hike and be in the outdoors. Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara Judith “Judy” Baker; sons, Richard Orne Kimmel (Pam), Douglass Charles Kimmel (Terri), David Charles Kimmel (Susan), Toby Glenn Kimmel (Nicole) and Donald “Scott” Kimmel (Sandy); daughter, Marny Danielle Klump (Michael); sisters, Shirley Ann Saylor and Margo Mowry; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service in the spring at his favorite fishing spot. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy or Trout Unlimited.
