Judy Anne Abrams

HAGERSTOWN, MD. — ABRAMS – Judy Anne, 69, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at her home. Born in Northern Cambria (formerly of Spangler) to the late James Abrams and Frances E. Abrams Young. Judy was a graduate of Washington County Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Washington County Hospital from 1965 to 2009, first as a medical/surgical R.N., and then as a nurse manager until the time of her retirement in 2009. Judy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James, William, Joseph, Alexander, Bobbie and Vernon Abrams. Also preceded in death by a “sister,” Ruth Young. Survived by sisters-in-law, Laura (Lottie) Abrams and Virginia (Ginger) Abrams; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Also survived by the love of her life, her dog, Tuck. Judy’s best friend and caregiver during her courageous battle with cancer, Joie Webb, expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the family, friends and neighbors for all their calls, visits, cards and gifts of flowers and food. A special thank you to friends, Carol Butts, Anita Deaner, Shirley Kline and Rita Yeagy, for their assistance, caring, compassion and support during this difficult time. Joie also wants to thank Vernie, Debbie and Maria for all their support and assistance. Special thanks to Dr. Bazzi, Antietam Oncology staff, Dr. Cornell, John March Cancer Center staff, and Hospice of Washington County. At Judy’s request, she will be cremated and a private graveside service will be held in Northern Cambria at the convenience of the family and friends. There will be no local service. In lieu of flowers, Judy requested that donations be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21740, or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21742.
