Margaret Joan Casey


EDGEWATER, MD. — CASEY – Margaret Joan “Margie” “Casey,” 72, a 38-year resident of Edgewater, Md., and previously of Riverdale, Md., died peacefully in her sleep Feb. 5, 2014. Born July 6, 1941, in Johnstown, daughter of Francis and Mary (Werfel) Casey. Preceded in death by parents; her longtime companion, William Bennett; former spouse, Kenneth Penrod; brothers, George and Joseph Casey; and sister, Mary Frances Casey. Survived by sons, Patrick (Susan) Penrod, East Haven, Conn.; and Christopher (Shelly) Penrod,  Frederick, Md.; daughters, R. Dawn Penrod (Michael Risher), Riva, Md.; Stacy Penrod, Edgewater, Md.; and Kennette (David) Martin, Pasadena, Md.; sisters, Barbara Canavan, Woodbridge, Va.; and Ann McCarthy, Gaithersburg, Md.; sister-in-law, Sandi Casey, Portage; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Margie earned a bachelor of science degree in computer programming from the University of Maryland. She retired from the NSA, where she worked as a computer programmer. She also worked at Lou’s Woodland in Edgewater for many years. Margie enjoyed genealogy and researching her family tree. She also enjoyed making videos of her children and grandchildren. Member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., 621 Maple St., South Fork, Pa. 15956. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork, by Father Robert P. Reese.
