Robert McGhee


EBENSBURG — McGHEE – Robert, 87, Ebensburg, passed away Feb. 16, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.  Born Nov. 20, 1926, in Colver, son of the late Robert Sr. and Pearl (Smith) McGhee. Preceded in death by daughter, Bonnie McGhee, and brother, James McGhee. Survived by wife, Margaret “Peggy,” to whom he was married 63 years; these children, Susanne (Edward Jr.) Vorhauer, Summerhill; Robert McGhee, Northern Cambria; and James (Jamie) McGhee, Nanty Glo; grandchildren, Heather Vorhauer (Cliff); Gretchen (Ross) Beveridge; Brian (Sheena) Vorhauer and Megan, Robert, Breanna and Ian McGhee; and five great-grandchildren.  Bob was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner, where he had served on the church council and was well-known to all the church children for his pocket full of quarters and candy. A World War II Army veteran, Bob was retired from Bell of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was very talented musically, having the ability to play almost any musical instrument he could get his hands on. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday  at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pastor Kevin McNamara, officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association.
