PORTAGE — BABIAK – John G. “Jeff,” 97, Portage, entered into new life Nov. 13, 2013, at home with his family. Born Feb. 8, 1916, in Portage, son of Joseph and Regina (Wojteszek) Babiak. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, the former Helen Zigmont; daughter, Jean, and son-in-law, Herbert Hoover; infant brother, Frank; and brother, Stanley. Survived by children, Richard, Portage; Joseph, married to the former Debra Bopp, Portage; and Cynthia, and fiance, Robert E. Gohn Sr., Flinton, Pa. Also surviving is his grandson, Larry Hoover, Portage. John was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, UMWA Local 1368 and PNA. He was the last member of his immediate family. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage, where vigil for the deceased will be held Friday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Mount Avenue, Father Joseph Janiszeski, TOR, celebrant. Committal, Sacred Heart Cemetery.
