Mike Berezonsky

AKRON,OHIO — BEREZONSKY – Mike, 88, Akron, Ohio, passed away June 17, 2013. He is now together again with his beloved wife, Stephanie. Born Nov. 21, 1924, in Dixonville, Pa., to the late Metro and Anna Berezonsky. Mike moved to Akron from Cairnbrook 70 years ago to take a job as a machinist at Firestone. Over the years, he advanced at the company and spent more than 20 years as a supervisor before retiring in 1985. He also worked as a supervisor at steel companies for six years. In his free time, Mike loved to hunt. He also enjoyed camping and mushroom picking. He loved to travel and tinker around the house. Mike fought bravely through many illnesses and was a hero to his family. Member of St. Mary Orthodox Church, where he served as a trustee. Preceded in death by parents; his wife; brothers, Nick, Metro and George Berezonsky; and sisters, Catherine Cote, Mary Morganti, Helen Kerlik, Nancy Brown and Betty Newcomb. Mike will be deeply missed by his children, Mike Berezonsky Jr. and Annette (Jerry) Stover; his best buddy, Trouble; sister, Eva Wolonsky; brother, John Berezonsky; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, with a 7:30 p.m. funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, where prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. Friday, followed by Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Orthodox Church, 91 S. Arlington St., Father Myron Zuder, officiating.
