David J. Siverinac

SOUTH FORK — SIVERINAC – David J. “Dunch,” 96, formerly of South Fork, died April 12, 2013, at St. Jude’s Haven Personal Care Home, Elton. Born Jan. 20, 1917, in South Fork, son of Marko and Helen (Mellik) Siverinac. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Margaret (Hrindo) Siverinac, who died March 22, 2000; sisters, Dorothy Endler and Anna Tully; and brothers, Joseph Siverinac and Evan, Michael and Nicholas Mehall. Survived by children, Kathleen, wife of Ron Colton, Houtzdale; David A., married to Marsha Hutzell, South Fork; and Pamela, wife of John Marsh, Salix; grandchildren, Melissa Colton, wife of Richard Gotwalt; Brett Colton; Kevin Colton, married to Julia Fennell; Brittany and Hilary Siverinac; and Kayla and Ian Marsh; and great-grandchildren, Kellen Colton and Kendra Gotwalt. David was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater as a CPL with the HQ BTRY 480th Anti-Aircraft Battalion, was awarded 3 Bronze Stars and several unit citations. He was a retired coal miner from Bethlehem Mine Corp., Mine 38, and worked as a manager for PLCB state stores. Member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork; UMWA; American Legion Post 551, St. Michael; VFW Post 7254, South Fork; and lifetime member of SNPJ Lodge 190, St. Michael. He enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork., where vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork, with Father Robert P. Reese. Committal, St. James Cemetery. Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Jude’s Haven for all their care and support.
