EBENSBURG — ECKENRODE – Denny, 57, Ebensburg, died April 17, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born June 23, 1955, in Altoona, son of Merle and Mary Louise (Passanita) Eckenrode. Preceded in death by father and brother, Jerry. Survived by mother of Dysart; wife, the former Gerianne Basile, whom he married Sept. 11, 1976, in Summerhill; daughters, Erin, Pittsburgh; Alison, Ebensburg; and Linsey, Pittsburgh; granddaughter, Reese Eckenrode-Frederick; brother, Gary, Delaware; and aunt, Ann Passanita, and uncle, Pat Passanita, both of Dysart. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and brothers- and sisters-in-law. Denny enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wife, daughters, granddaughter, Reese and his many friends. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, softball and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers fan. He had coached basketball for the Holy Name girls and softball for the Carrolltown Girls League. He managed the Pizza Deli Six Pack, Johnstown, and previously worked at Penn Jacobson, Altoona and A&P Ebensburg. Member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Friends will be received from noon until time of funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Monsignor Arnold Gaus, celebrant.
