Chester R. Blank

SOMERSET — BLANK – Chester R., 101, Somerset, passed away peacefully at The Heritage at Siemon’s under the care of Heartland Hospice on Aug. 2, 2013. Born July 18, 1912, in Hooversville, son of the late George and Margaret (Murray) Blank. Also preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 1997; grandson, Jeffrey Blank; sisters, Wilma Zips, Eva Pugh and Dorothy Light; brother, Charles Blank; two infant brothers; and son-in-law, John Stoy. Survived by children, C. Robert Blank, and wife, Susan (Sturgeon), Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; James Blank, and wife, Betty (Koeppe), Johnstown; Patricia Stoy, Somerset; and William Blank, and wife, Elaine (Eichorn), Somerset. Chester was a graduate of Ferndale High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a lifelong barber with 76 years in the profession. Life member of Somerset Fire Department, Somerset FOE and Somerset American Legion. Member of First United Methodist Church, Somerset. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dale Shunk and the Rev. Arthur Gotjen, officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park, with military honors accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard.
